Hometown Bagdad

copied from: http://healingiraq.blogspot.com/

Adel, one of the Hometown Baghdad Iraqi videobloggers, recklessly hides a video camera in his bag and goes out to film the deserted, rubbish littered streets of his neighbourhood, a Sunni stronghold in Baghdad. The guy deserves a medal for this. If he were caught sneakily filming like that by insurgents or militias, he would be executed on the spot for being a suspected "spy" for either side.

Don Imus and Nappy Headed Hos

"Nappy-headed hos" stands for Prostitutes

Nappy-headed hos and Jigaboos

What if it was in Brazil?

This guy is Don Imus and he was presenting "Imus In The Morning" show on Thursday when he referred to the Rutgers women's basketball team as "nappy-headed hos."
Imus started out talking about the Rutgers team as, "some rough girls from Rutgers. They got tattoos," and then went on to call them "some nappy-headed hos." Moreover, he compared them to the Tennessee team, saying "
The girls from Tennessee ... they all looked cute."

Imus got fired by MSNBC.

What if it happened in Brazil? Do you think he would get fired? Do you think there would be sponsors canceling their participation in the show? Do you think there would be any kind of national commotion about it?

I do have my doubts about it...

The Midlife Happiness CrisisBut don't worry—when you get old, the sun comes out again.

By Joel Waldfogel

Escolha a alternativa que melhor completa os espaços em branco!!!

Volumes of academic research measure the determinants of individual economic well-being—wages, income, and wealth. That is because money is supposed to buy not only necessities ________ (and / but /or) also happiness, in the form of iPhones and TiVos.
Except that the relationship between money and happiness turns out to be complex. People with higher incomes today report higher levels of happiness than their poorer contemporaries. At the same time, people today are far richer than earlier generations, but ________(it is / they do / they are / he is) not happier than those ________ (which / who / whose) came before them. In light of such wrinkles, a growing cadre of economists ______ (has /have / had) cut out the money middleman and moved to studying happiness directly. The latest installment in this genre is a new study by economists David Blanchflower of Dartmouth and Andrew Oswald of Warwick. They document how happiness evolves as people age. While income and wealth tend to rise steadily over the life cycle, peaking around retirement, happiness follows a U-shaped age pattern.
